Aliena has a background in journalism and has initiated and conducted interviewing on a variety of topics in a journalistic capacity for both radio and print media. Aliena has strong research experience in the conduct of in-depth interviewing on a diversity of subjects and in preparing analysis of results. Aliena’s skills as a moderator includes insightful preparation and questioning and the ability to instigate a natural flow of conversation that sets participants at ease while maintaining interest during lengthy interviews. In the conduct of focus groups and in-depth interviewing for McNair, Aliena applies her journalistic expertise to encourage conversations that explore motivational behaviours.
Aliena supplements her experience as a qualitative researcher with excellent communication in liaison with clients, health service representatives, and respondents. Aliena’s experience at McNair includes three years of executive interviewing for business to business projects, plus administrative and consultative assistance which involves online monitoring and data entry, transcription and analysis on a range of research studies, as well as organization of recruitment and venue logistics for IDIs and focus groups. Aliena’s report writing capabilities and interpretative skills incorporate the ability to balance accuracy and interest in the preparation of reports, notable examples include national media and local government clients and reporting on behalf of Brooks Community Engagement and the charity, Communities for Communities.
